Professional Advancement Program
January-August 2023
The Professional Advancement Program (PAP) is designed for performing arts pre-professionals aged 14-Adult who are based in the DMV area. Program participants will gain both educational and tangible skills and tools to prepare them for a career in the performing arts. Career paths include professional dancers, individual artists, dance company founders, teachers, studio owners, dance photographers, dance writers, arts administrators, and associated professions.
Participants will attend 1-2 educational activities per month including panels/workshops, master classes, headshot sessions, and more. All program components are free to program participants. The program will run January – August 2023 and will end with a culminating project.
Applications will be accepted November 21st through December 9th. Applicants will be notified of their status by December 19th. The program will begin in January 2023.

Program Elements
Panels/Workshops
Workshops and panels will discuss topical issues in dance inclusive of career development and financial literacy.
Headshots/Resume Review
Professional headshots and resume reviews will provide tangible assets to portfolios
Master Classes
Professional dancers will instruct program participants in various dance styles
Audition Preparation
Sessions will be provided to prepare participants for academic and professional auditions
Mentorship
One-on-one mentorship with leading industry professionals will occur on a regular basis
Digital Presentation
Prepation for video auditions and presentations to include new technology for portfolio development
