Fierce Collabo is a newly started dance company located in the DC Metro area. They were the recipient of Joy of Motion Dance Center’s Dance Project audience favorite award in 2011. The company draws inspiration from within the group – hence the name Fierce Collabo. The company’s mission is to inspire and move others through dance by giving positivity and encouragement in everything they do. The goal of Fierce Collabo is to make each dancer “Your Better You.” According to Fierce Collabo Executive Director/Founder LaToya McKay, “Fierce Collabo is not only a dance company, but we like to call ourselves family.” Learn more about Fierce Collabo and their upcoming show DNA in this Q&A with LaToya McKay:

Where have you performed?

Fierce Collabo has performed in many shows. Our most recent was World Of Dance New York. To name a few, we have performed for PreludeDMV, Beast Coast Hip Hop Competition, Rip The Floor, Danz – N- Motion, JOMDC’s Dance Project, and many more. We also have been privileged to perform at Cobalt Nightclub on a consistent basis.

How has winning the Audience Favorite Award at JOMDC’s Dance Project helped your company?

Winning the audience favorite award helped FC immensely. It allowed others to experience FC for the first time, and as a company gave us even more confidence as a whole. That confidence helped provide amazing opportunities.

Tell us about your upcoming show. What are some of the highlights? What can the audience expect from the show?

Giving the respect that Hip Hop deserves, FC created DNA “The Distinct Nature of Artists” – a showcase purely dedicated to all styles of Hip Hop. FC’s mission is to give others in the community the opportunity to be part of an ongoing/ growing movement, inspired by Rhythms and down-to-earth styles.

Hip Hop as an innovative culture and has grown even larger in the community, proving that the world has a natural instinct for movement. Hence the name “The Distinct Nature Of Artists.”

This show is going to be amazing with such highlights as Kick Rocks Crew, Future Shock DC, Johnii Ninja, Diamonds In The Rough, and JOMDC teen hip hop company Groove Elements (Director: Alana Hill).
