YOUTH DANCE ENSEMBLE (YDE)

Since 1976, Joy of Motion Dance Center has served as a leader in dance education in the greater Washington, D.C. area. The Youth Dance Ensemble (YDE) is Joy of Motion’s elite program for the developing young dancer, consisting of a Company for advanced high school-aged students and six preparatory levels.

Winner of the DC Dance Award for Outstanding Youth Performance (2006, 2010, 2013).

With core classes in ballet, jazz, and modern and a guided curriculum based upon the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) standards, this pre-collegiate program inspires excellence in dance, education, and life. In addition to core classes, YDE incorporates supplemental study in additional dance forms, dance history, improvisation, and composition, as well as artist residencies and numerous performance opportunities. YDE has performed at the White House, the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, Dance Place, Publick Playhouse, The Lincoln Theater, The Arts Club of Washington, THEARC, Sidney Harman Hall, and at Dance Bethesda, among others.
