Outreach: Eating Pizza Never Felt So Good

“Thank you to all of you for this wonderful and most importantly blessed opportunity for Taylor. We are very, very, very grateful and excited. We will be by your studio today as soon as she is out of school. Eternally grateful to each of you, Taylor’s Mom”

When a gaggle of Youth Dance Ensemble Level 4 dancers headed to Potomac Pizza-Chevy Chase on Wednesday, October 10, they were doing more than just refueling after modern class. They, along with all the other JOMDC families and friends filling the dining room, raised over $300 for JOMDC’s Dance is for Everyone Scholarship Fund. The fund helps out young dancers like Taylor who want to take dance classes but whose families are hard pressed to fit tuition into their tight budgets.

We are grateful to Potomac Pizza for approaching us about holding a Pizza Night at their location in Friendship Heights. They donated 20% of the evening’s proceeds to JOMDC, and the Youth Dance Ensemble stepped up to sponsor the scholarship fundraiser. Kristin Faust, a Youth Dance Ensemble mom, remarked that evening, “I love how Joy of Motion is an inclusive community for dancers and yet maintains such rigor for my daughter. That’s a difficult balance, and you do it gracefully.”

Many thanks to all of you who joined us, from JOMDC, Taylor, and Taylor’s mom! For more info about Scholarships, click here. To set up your own scholarship drive, contact Polly at development@joyofmotion.org or 202.399.6764 X166.
