Brazil – Rhythms and Poetry is a show that traverses the rich history of Brazilian culture through movement and music. Presented by Abada Capoeira D.C., an organization marking its 10th anniversary of sharing the energetic Afro-Brazilian art form with the Washington DC metropolitan area, Rhythms and Poetry is a celebration of beauty born from diversity. With roots grounded in slavery and forged through time in the expression of a people brought together through adversity, the fabric of Brazil is on display in this artistic tribute. With acts ranging from the very Brazilian, pulsing-pounding samba to smooth sounds of blues originated from the diaspora of America, powerful rhythms found in the streets of Rio to flowing movements inspired by the Amazon rainforest, the heart-beat and soul of a nation is reflected in a show guaranteed to leave you breathless and mesmerized.
