DANCE PROJECT SERIES AT THE JACK!
Dance Project is a choreography showcase series in which local artists can submit their original choreography for a chance to perform at The Jack Guidone Theater, our black box at the Friendship Heights location. JOMDC is committed to giving dancers a platform to express their creativity and, where possible, additional opportunities to rise in the community. That’s why Dance Project includes the Audience Favorite Award. The crowd votes for their favorite performance and JOMDC awards the winner 50% off a theater rental or 100 hours of free rehearsal space*. The Dance Project Series includes four concerts that provide an opportunity for all dance makers (over age 8) to present their work, in all styles of dance!
This year is especially unique – JOMDC turns 40! To celebrate this milestone, the Faculty & Workstudy Dance Project concert is all about honoring JOMDC teachers. We have opened up the application to also include long-time adult students who wish to honor their teachers! The entire show will feature current JOMDC faculty and workstudy as well as long-time JOMDC dancers inspired by their teachers. Do you have a teacher you wish to honor with a performance? Create a solo, or connect with your dance family to create a work that celebrates your favorite JOMDC teacher. We are looking for diverse performances that will pull at our heartstrings – or even make us laugh! One performance from this concert will be selected to present at our Annual Gala on March 11, 2015, in the Lang Theater at the Atlas Performing Arts Center.
Below find descriptions and application links for each concert. We’ve added a few videos to inspire you! We look forward to your applications and the Dance Project concert season.
