Joy of Motion’s newly formed Dance Institute provides rigorous conservatory-style training programs to youth and adult students that are dedicated to dance. Under the direction of Helen Hayes, students and faculty in these rich, curriculum-based training programs are committed to pursuing the highest standards of quality at all levels. Students of all ages in the Dance Institute program benefit from the emphasis on the holistic training with a focus on strengthening the mind as well as the body and continue to reap the benefits both inside and outside of the studio.
Dancers will learn repertory by faculty members and guest artists throughout the year. In addition, improvisation and composition are important parts of the curriculum, giving students the tools to find their own voices through the power of dance. Dance Institute students have exceptional performance opportunities throughout the Greater Washington area such as The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, The Atlas Performing Arts Center, The Greenberg Theater, Dance Place, and the White House.
