Youth Performance Companies

YOUTH PERFORMANCE COMPANIES (YPCs)

Next year, Joy of Motion will have 10 Youth Performance Companies (YPCs), including all of our five hip hop companies, two jazz, two ballet, and one tap company. The companies will be led by many of the same directors as in the past, and we’re excited to welcome several new directors to our ranks. Our vision is to build strong, thriving communities within each company and to create a unified and seamless approach to performance training among all of the companies and dance styles. Participants have the opportunity to perform high-quality work in a variety of venues, providing audiences with exceptional dance performances. We commit to providing both performers and their audiences with access to excellence.

Our youth companies have performed at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Imagination Bethesda, the White House, and more!

Each YPC involves a commitment of 3.5 hours per week, plus performances. If you are looking for more intensive conservatory-style training:

  • focused in modern & ballet, then check out the Youth Dance Ensemble (or YDE) HERE
  • focused in jazz & tap, then check out the American Dance Conservatory (or ADC) HERE
