Our performance classes are offered each semester in various dance disciplines as an opportunity for the adult
student to experience the process and thrill of performing.
Performance classes culminate in a showcase performance at the
end of the semester.

Level: Beginning I Belly Dance and above
This class will feature the popular Indian film dance style that draws on folk and traditional elements as well as MTV and Arabic dance. This new choreography promises high spirited hip swinging fun for the whole village. All students are required to attend class, be prompt and demonstrate a command of the choreography in order to perform. Students must purchase or create their own costuming according to teacher guidelines. All efforts will be made to keep costuming expenses affordable. This class will culminate in a showcase performance for friends, family and the community on Saturday,

Egyptian Raqs Sharqi piece to the classical composition Tool
Omri ba-Hebbak. With frequent rhythm changes, crisp percussive
sections and languorous passages, this challenging selection will teach
dancers to reflect musical nuances through their movements.Posture,
styling, expressiveness, isolations, and precision will be emphasized. All students are required to attend class, be prompt and demonstrate a command of the choreography in order to perform. Level: Beginning II Jazz and above
Jazz is an exciting and dynamic dance form full of rhythm,
syncopation, passion and life.
This performance class will bring the energy of jazz
to the stage. Steeped
in the rhythm of America, jazz, a true American art form, brings energy and
life to all those who dance it.
Students will experience the development of a
full-length jazz performance piece from start to finish
focusing on classic jazz and blues as well as some elements
of jazz improvisation.
All
students are required to attend class, be prompt and
participate on a regular basis in order to perform. Students
must purchase or create their own costuming according to
teacher guidelines. All efforts will be made to keep

Level: Beginning I Hip Hop and above
Learn a fun and innovative Step performance piece
choreographed by Kevin Allen, Omicron Omicron President of
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternities, Inc. The traditions of
stepping were formulated originally by the mine workers of
South Africa and have evolved into a creative celebration of
movement, rhythms, and dance. Stepping has been
popularized by the Divine Nine Fraternities and Sororities
of the world. Stepping is a compilation of precise
foot movements, hand clapping, and creative movements that
challenge one's inner rhythms, tempo, and
adaptability. All
students are required to attend class, be prompt and
participate on a regular basis in order to perform. Students
must purchase or create their own costuming according to
teacher guidelines. All efforts will be made to keep

Salsa-Latin Dance Performance Class CLOSED

This performance class will focus on partnership and solo
work, emphasizing Salsa dance, and incorporating other Latin
dance into the choreography. Although partnering work
will be taught, no partner is necessary to register for the
class. Learn a choreographed performance piece that will
build performance quality into all your Latin dance
moves. All students are required to attend
class, be prompt and participate on a regular basis in order
to perform. Students must purchase their own costuming
according to teacher guidelines. All efforts will be made to

This class will incorporate the unique Afro jazz style of Joy of Motion’s very own Tyrone Murray. Tyrone’s choreography is an exciting blend of traditional African movements incorporated with elements of classical jazz technique and phrases. This class is an excellent opportunity to put the fun experienced in class on stage. All students are required to attend class, be prompt and demonstrate a command of the choreography in order to perform.
