Breakin' & Hip Hop Intensives
Come learn the foundations of hip hop dance and breakin', also known as breakdancing. The class will cover top-rock, steps done standing up, drops, transitions to the floor, and test (footwork). Students will do technique and strengthening drills plus experiment with creating their own phrases in freestyle. Poppin’ and lockin’, two other foundational styles of hip hop dance, will be introduced as well. This intensive will feature video clips to expose students to some of the pioneers and leading practitioners of these dance forms. Previous experience is not required, but enthusiasm and commitment to learning is. Students will have the opportunity to perform for invited family and friends during the final class period.
