SpiritMotion Performance
class is a spiritual dance exploration
process culminating in an original interactive movement/dance/theatre performance
piece. Based on AVA's SpiritMotion program,
this performance class will draw upon each participant's
personal movement style, individual
movement dynamic and life experience to
create a group work. The concept of "collective
becoming" will
be emphasized as individuals work together in process to
create a free flowing performance experience. Exploration
of certain spiritual, philosophical or
abstract themes
will be used to help inspire the creative process and weave
the work. Class will incorporate improvisation, elements of
expressive dance, structured
choreography, spoken word, usage
of props, and pure
imagination as a means to discover
and create the dance. This class will culminate in
a performance for friends, family and the community at the “Student
Choreography Showcase" on Saturday, June 10 at 8:00 p.m., at JOMDC's
