Tyrone Murray

Tyrone Murray is originally from Brooklyn, N.Y. and attended Howard University in 
Washington D.C. He has studied and performed with Mike Malone, Melvin Deal, 
Laverne Reed, Debbie Allen, Jason Taylor, James Thurston, Louis Johnson, LaRocQue 
Bey and Assane Kounta. Mr. Murray was the opening act for Carmen McRae, Stephanie 
Mills, the Bill Blass Fashion Gala and an Illusionist Choreographer at Caesar’s 
Palace in Vegas, Boston, Miami and San Francisco. He has taught master classes and 
has been a faculty member of The Duke Ellington and Baltimore School of the Arts, 
Dance Place, Feet First, Maryland Youth Ballet, Cacho African Drummers and Dancers, 
Holton-Arms School, and several universities including Howard University, 
University of the District of Columbia, Virginia Commonwealth University, 
University of Maryland, and Georgetown University. Mr. Murray was the Rehearsal 
Director for D.C. Contemporary Dance Theatre touring and teaching in Jordan, 
Dominican Republic and Thailand. In addition, he has done promotional commercials 
for WUSA Channel 9, has been a Dance Grant Panelist for the D.C. Commission on the 
Arts and an NEA Choreography Grant Recipient.
