Natalia Schifini
Natalia Schifini was born and raised in Argentina, with her parents emigrating from
Paraguay and Italy. Beginning with ballet when she was five, dance has always been
a part of her life. As a teenager, she had a chance to travel through the Caribbean
where she discovered a deep passion for Latin dances, particularly salsa. She first
studied with Cuba's famous Eddie Aponte (Cuban Style Salsa, Mambo and Salsa Rueda
"Casino"), she also studied with Quico Cespedes (renowned salsa, merengue & cha-cha
instructor from Dominican Republic) in Buenos Aires. In 2000 she connected with her
roots and immersed herself in Argentina's most famous and sensual dance, the
Argentine Tango. During her last trips to Argentina, she received intensive group
and private Argentine Tango lessons with Gonzalo Robinson, Graciela Gonzalez,
Alejandra Arrue, Angel Coria from La Escuela de Tango, Mauricio Castro, and
"Gavito". She also toured the best Milongas of Buenos Aires, such as Niņo Bien, La
National, La Catedral, etc. She's also worked with Keith Givens, choreographer and
performer for High Energy Productions and Latin Vibes DC. At Glen Echo, they taught
Washington D.C. area's largest salsa lesson ever, over 200 people!
