Monica Reid

Monica’s journey into the exciting world of performing arts began at the early age
of 7. She began to look forward to attending weekly community center dance classes
in Fountain Valley California. She was well on her way to becoming a student,
educator, motivator, participant and researcher in this ever changing field. In
California, she was in a foreign exchange dance program. While at Arizona State
University, Monica obtained positions on dance lines for the Phoenix Suns (NBA) and
Arizona Rattlers (AFL). In 2002, while studying at ASU, Monica had the opportunity
to spend a semester at The Alvin Ailey School in NYC. There she was exposed to
Horton, Graham, and Dunham technique. In pursuit of her Minor dance degree at ASU,
Monica’s dance classes ranged from Methods of teaching children dance, ballet,
dance history, to taking Master classes from Ron Brown-a resident artist at ASU.
Monica Reid joined the faculty of Joy of Motion Dance Center in July 2005. She
currently works for Dance/USA.
