Marta Vizueta is a dynamic and engaging belly dance artist and instructor in the D.C. area. Recognized for her elegance and technique she focuses both in oriental style and tribal belly dance.
She has completed comprehensive studies in Egyptian, American and Tribal technique and stylization with nationally acclaimed artists, and continues her certification training in the Suhaila Salimpour School of Dance. As a choreographer she blends flamenco, modern Indian dance, and afro-Cuban dance in her contemporary fusion projects, while maintaining a firm grasp of Egyptian style belly dance in more traditional works.
Marta approaches teaching from a holistic perspective, focusing on the development of strong technique, conditioning, musical interpretation, and deep explorations of historical and cultural contexts of the dance. As a doula/labor assistant, she also brings her strong knowledge of women's health into her teaching.
She is the founder and former co-director of DCTribal, and a former Sahara Dance professional dancer and instructor. For more information on her teaching style or upcoming performances, please visit www.MoveYourBelly.com.
