Pilates Mat
Kaye Gardner has been an avid exerciser for
more than 12 years. Her personal practice has spanned the breadth of aerobic
exercises, from high-impact to body sculpting, as well as anaerobic free-weight
training. For the last three years her training focus has been the study of
Joseph Pilates’ exercise methodology. This
pursuit has brought the mind-body connection of exercise to the center of her
private training service and
personal bodywork practice. Enhanced
core strength, flexibility and elongation of the body while maintaining muscle
tone is the goal of her teaching approach.
Kaye Gardner is PhysicalMind certified to
teach Pilates Mat and Standing Pilates exercises and she incorporates the
Pilates equipment into her personal training service.
Her approach is to teach core strength development and physical balance
to her clients. When the core or
powerhouse can adequately support the movements of the spine a state of harmony
exists in the body. Isolating and strengthening individual muscles without
stress to the joints is the goal. One approach to accomplish this goal is to
re-educate muscles to fully extend and release with Yamuna Body Rolling
techniques. Kaye is fully certified by Yamuna Zake to teach Yamuna Body
Rolling. Yogilates is another
mind-body connection form of exercise which Ms. Gardner integrates into her
‘client focused’ personal training service.
The focus is not on how much you do but rather on the coordination of
correct breathing with performance of the exercise. Improved posture through
better spinal alignment, improved flexibility, and movement consciousness are
the goals of a Pilates exercise regimen.
