Jami Jones
Jami Jones has been passionate for the craft of dance all of her life. She began
her dance training in 1996 with Belly Dance, studying the form as both art and
profession. Soon after her introduction to dance she began training, performing,
and teaching Ballroom dance. This path of teaching inspired Jami to seek training
in other dance forms, including: Jazz, Modern, and Chinese Martial Arts.
In 1998 Jami began dancing for a local Salsa dance company that sparked an
aggressive approach to dance through performance and competition. Since then Jami
has performed with a number of dance companies: Silk Road Dance Company, American
Dance Montage, and Trabuco Dance Company.
In Ballroom dance Jami has placed as an American Rhythm finalist. In Salsa dance
she and her partner were crowned the 2004 DC Salsa Champions and were finalists in
the 2005 World Salsa Championship in Puerto Rico. Jami was certified in 2004 at the
University of Salsa in Puerto Rico, with specialization in the study of the
evolution of Salsa from folklore to present.
Jami Jones currently lives in Washington DC, performing, teaching and training in
competitive dance. She maintains the same joy, passion, and sense of exploration
that first inspired her to dance.
