Heidi Schultz

"At age 35 my mother started tap dancing and suggested I try too; I've been tapping 
ever since." Heidi Schultz began teaching tap 17 years ago in Detroit, Michigan and 
currently teaches as an adjunct professor in American University's Department of 
Performing Arts in addition to Joy of Motion. She is the director of Tappening, a 
company she formed in 1999 with a group of D.C. graduate and undergraduate 
students. From 1995 to 2002 she performed with the DC-based Taps & Co.  Along the 
way, Ms. Schultz also earned a Master's degree in anthropology.
