Heidi L. Schimpf

Heidi L. Schimpf is the Director of Education and Outreach for Joy of Motion Dance Center in Washington , D.C. She holds a M.A. in Dance from American University and B. S. in Theater, Education and Dance from Middle Tennessee State University . For two years, Ms. Schimpf has served on the board of the Capital Region Educators of Dance Organization, the Metro/DC Dance Awards committee, and D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities Teacher mini-grant panel. During 2007-2008, Ms. Schimpf served on the steering committee for the D.C. Public School Dance Standards. For the past eight years she has taught throughout the D.C. at Joy of Motion Dance Center, Montgomery College , The National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, The Dance Institute of Washington, Northern Virginia Community College , Holten Arms School and American University , where she was Choreographer in Residence and Public Relations Fellow. She has danced with noted choreographers Alice Howes, Meisha Bosma, Claire Porter, Joy Kellman, Ed Tyler, Daniel Burkholder, Ann Halligan- Donahue, Amir Kolbein, Nancy Havlik and the White Oak Dance Project. Her choreography has been presented at Joy of Motion Dance Center, Dance Place , American University , The National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, and the International Improvisation Festival.
