Danilo Rivera

Danilo Rivera was born in El Salvador. He is a dancer, teacher, choreographer and painter. He is a graduate of the National University of El Salvador (UES) with a BA in Fine and Visual Arts. Danilo began his training in contemporary dance at the University of El Salvador (UES) under the direction of Alfredo Perez, and continued his studies at the National School of Dance under the direction of Francisco Castillo and Yasmin Hernandez, among others. He has participated in dance festivals in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and the USA. In addition to his work as a dancer, he has exhibited his paintings, scenic designs, body painting and costumes at the Embassy of Brazil in San Salvador, Washington, DC and in San Francisco. Danilo has been on faculty at the National School of Dance in El Salvador, Joy of Motion Dance Center, Oyster Bilingual School, Centro Nia, and a guest performer, teacher and choreographer at Georgetown University (Black Movements Dance Theatre, and Georgetown Dance Company). He has been a soloist/principle dancer, teacher, choreographer and set designer with El Teatro de Danza Contemporanea de El Salvador since l998.
