Rita
“CoCo” Clark grew up in
Sacramento
,
California
where she studied under the direction of Dr. Linda Goodrich, protégé of
Katherine Dunham, for four years at California State University of Sacramento
and danced for various companies like The Sacramento Black Art of Dance,
Flystyle Dance Force, The Sacramento Light Opera Association, and KSFM 102.5
Dance Team. Rita also studied at The
Ailey School in
New York
for a year and was a Dunham Dance demonstrator and substitute teacher at
Debbie
Allen
Dance
Academy
during her years in
Los Angeles
,
California
. The daughter of a jazz singer and
musician she grew up as one of the “Young Professionals” under Linda
Townsend while taking gymnastics, ballet, tap, voice, and musical theatre.
Her resume includes lead roles in musicals such as FAME,
Once On This Island, and Little
Shop of Horrors. Currently,
she dances for X-Faction Dance Company and will graduate from
Howard
University
in May 2008 with a Bachelor or Arts Degree in Spanish.
Upon graduation, she hopes to continue her studies in Dance and Spanish
abroad.
