Alison Crosby

Alison Crosby trained from an early age at the highly respected Academy of the 
Maryland Youth Ballet, in classical ballet and jazz. She continued her training and 
pursuit of her career in dance in New York City, where she studied at the Joffrey 
Ballet School and was a member of the Joffrey Concert Group. In the Washington 
area, Ms. Crosby is especially identified with Eric Hampton Dance, Bowen-McCauley 
Dance and Rincones and Company Dance Theater, companies with which she has 
performed for most of her professional career. She also has had rewarding 
collaborations with other leading dance groups, including Tony Powell Music and 
Movement, Karen and Alvin, and CityDance Ensemble. Other performing experiences 
include a national tour of The Music Man, dancing roles for the Washington Opera, a 
principal role in the Arena Stage production of Coyote Builds North America, and an 
entertainment contract with the Silversea Cruise Line. Ms. Crosby has received two 
awards from the Maryland Arts Council and one from Montgomery County, for 
individual artist in solo performance. In 2002, she was nominated for the 1st D.C. 
Metro Dance Awards. Ms. Crosby teaches classical and contemporary dance for all 
levels in the metropolitan area, including Towson University, and is the master 
teacher in the children’s instructional video, “Time to Dance.”
