Alana Hill

Alana Hill's love for dance started at a small dance school in her hometown of
Oklahoma City, where she took Ballet and Tap classes. Even as a young and shy
child, Alana was always alive and uninhibited on stage. So she kept dancing day and
night, even when there wasn't a stage or an audience. During high school, she
revisited her love of performance and choreography, during cheerleading
competitions, half-time shows, and high school talent competitions.

In 2001, Alana began taking classes at Joy of Motion Dance Center, where she has
been able to become acquainted with a host of talented teachers and performers.
Alana credits the faculty at Joy of Motion Dance Center and their motto of “'Dance
is for everyone“ for inspiring her to believe in herself and her unlimited ability.

Alana has been performing and choreographing ever since she walked in the doors of
her first hip-hop class at Joy of Motion Dance Center. In 2003, she co-founded
Expansion Dance Project, a local hip-hop dance company, and faithfully served as
Managing Director, choreographer, and performer for over two years. Under her
direction, Expansion established itself as a well known and highly successful dance
company with an extensive performance schedule. Through Expansion and many other
opportunities, Alana has performed and presented work at several noteworthy events,
such as Dance Bethesda, Metro DC Dance Awards Opening Ceremony, Maryland Dance
Festival, numerous Joy of Motion Dance Center concerts, the Annual MLK Festival
hosted by WPGC, as well as Expansion Dance Project's sold-out annual showcases.
Most recently, Alana was handpicked to perform with award winning recording artist,
Mya, in Atlantic City.

Alana Hill has also received her certification as a group exercise instructor and
has taught Hip Hop classes at The Sports Club LA in Washington D.C. and
fitness/dance based workshops/classes throughout the DC area. As a dance educator,
Alana seeks to inspire her students to search within themselves and find their
inner performer, to be uninhibited, and to have fun.
