
Adrienne Clancy
Adrienne Clancy is the Artistic Director and Founder of ClancyWorks Dance Company. She has earned a reputation of working with conservatory students and dance enthusiasts alike. Ms. Clancy has been choreographing professionally for the past eighteen years and her work has been presented nationally in California, New Mexico, Virginia, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, Texas, and New York, and internationally in Israel, Japan, Poland, Mexico, and Paraguay. Prior to directing the ClancyWorks Dance Company, Ms. Clancy worked as a company member for the following choreographers: Bella Lewitzky, Liz Lerman, and Nora Reynolds-Daniel, and as a Guest Artist for Bill Evans, Maida Withers, Doug Hamby, and Victoria Marks. During the summer of 2000, she was on faculty at the prestigious Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival for the Dance and Community Partnerships Workshop. Ms. Clancy has been on the faculty of Goucher College, George Washington University, Towson University, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and is currently at George Mason University (VA). Over the past few years, Ms. Clancy has directed many Community Arts Projects that have culminated in both site specific events and formal concert performance events, and has led numerous workshops both nationally and internationally in Modern Dance Techniques, Partnering and Contact Improvisation, Choreography, Composition, and methods of facilitating artistic feedback sessions.
Ms. Clancy received a B.F.A. in Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Master’s Degree in Dance, emphasis in Dance History and Criticism from the University of New Mexico. In addition to directing ClancyWorks Dance Company and teaching dance, Adrienne is currently pursuing a PhD in Dance from Texas Woman's University.
