November 19, 2004WASHINGTON, DC – Joy of Motion Dance Center was recently selected as one of the 55 featured nonprofits to be highlighted on the TouchDC web site, an online giving portal that provides access to over 23,000 of the region’s nonprofit organizations.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for us,” says Douglas Yeuell, executive director of Joy of Motion Dance Center. “It’s great to be recognized by TouchDC and we appreciate the support they provide us as we look to bring dance to an ever growing community of dancers old and young alike.

A reception was held on November 18, 2004, introducing the 55 featured nonprofits and unveiling TouchDC’s new web site design and functionality. In addition to being highlighted in the Arts and Culture section of TouchDC.org, Joy of Motion Dance Center will be included in the Arts and Culture charity gift basket, allowing donors to contribute to five featured charities with one single gift.

“We are very proud of this year’s featured charities,” says Eric Rigaud, Director of TouchDC. “They’re smaller organizations that do so much for those who need it most in the Greater Washington region. E-philanthropy is a great way for these organizations to attract individual donors and encourage people to ‘Give Where They Live’!”

TouchDC is Washington Grantmakers’ landmark initiative that makes the most of the Internet. Created in October 2001, it combines the information and resources a donor needs to research nonprofits, make donations, and/or volunteer with any nonprofit located in the Greater Washington region. Supported by a coalition of over 20 foundations, nonprofit umbrella organizations, corporations, and media partners, TouchDC’s mission is to encourage individual giving in our region and increase the awareness of local nonprofits.
