INTRODUCTION TO BALLET
TECHNIQUE
This ballet enrollment class introduces the fundamental principles of Ballet and
will build week to week. Basic positions of the feet and arms, proper alignment,
ballet vocabulary, barre exercises and center work will be taught and reviewed
in depth. This class will break down the steps and provide students with
exercises that build strength, increase flexibility and provide a foundation
that can be applied to all dance styles. While no previous dance experience is
necessary, students are encouraged to take
Introduction to Dance Technique prior to enrolling. After
completing Introduction to Ballet, try our Beginners'
Series Ballet!
BALLET
Beauty, flow and elegance are inherent in the elements of ballet. Ballet is the
classical dance form that can be mastered by itself or used as a technical base
or supplement to other dance forms. Classes focus on overall body alignment and
awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet and legs and execution of
turnout. Carriage and usage of upper torso and arms are also stressed.
Traditional barre work, center work and combinations are included in all
classes.
BALLET BARRE
This class will cover the
fundamentals of the ballet barre. Students will improve strength, articulation
of movement, and knowledge of ballet terminology. This class is designed to
compliment the study of ballet and/or pointe work.
FLOOR BARRE
This class teaches proper body
alignment and correct muscle usage for dance technique. It is appropriate for
dancers at all levels who want to increase strength and gain a better
understanding of body mechanics. It is especially helpful for dancers recovering
from injuries.
