What is your teaching philosophy and/or teaching style?

I like to create an atmosphere in my class where it is safe to explore new movement vocabulary challenging students to move outside of their comfort zone into a world full of new possibilities. My contemporary class discovers innovative ways to work through the body and manipulate both ballet and jazz vocabulary. Students will explore musicality, spatial awareness, and how to approach each movement with different dynamics and energy. My Zumba® class is a high energy cardio dance workout, increasing your heart rate and making you work up a sweat! The Latin beats and influences keep the dance party alive for an hour-long workout!

What is your favorite part about teaching class?

My students continuously inspire me with their interpretation of the movement, their work ethic and integrity. There is such a give and take relationship in class and when there is a flow and exchange of ideas between teacher and student it is so invigorating! I love to see students challenge themselves with something new or uncomfortable and be able to grow and conquer their fears within that hour and a half class. I am fortunate to absolutely love what I do and be inspired each and every day!

What do you hope your students will take away from your class?

I hope my students will take away a sense of fearlessness after my class. Everyone has something to say through their own unique movement and I feel it is my job to help people discover their voice. I hope my students walk away with a rejuvenated spirit, feeling energized and happy! Dance has always been a positive and stable influence in my life and I want to share my passion for the arts with those that walk through the door.
